For “Joy in the Detail”, a non-thematic brief was given to celebrate the variety and dynamic range of work being developed by the 62 Group membership. The open nature of the brief presented an exciting opportunity to develop innovative work emerging from each artist’s individual research interests. Wishcloth was my response. Wishcloth is a textile assemblage; a fusion of a blanket remnant, wishbones, cotton scraps and hand embroidery evoking an ancient artifact whose significance has been lost. Its meaning is undefined. The inclusion of wishbones, often tied to luck and fate, enhances the cloth’s mystery, inviting contemplation and interpretation of its possible origins and purpose.
